All procedures are performed in our state-of-the art dental offices. The treatment areas in our offices have been specially outfitted with modern equipment, instruments, and a high sterile environment. We are very serious about and committed to protecting your health. This type of environment also enhances the success of the implant.
Two choices will be presented to you. In both cases we will guarantee that you will not feel uncomfortably the procedure:
- Local Anesthetic-this is similar to what you may have had for routine dental work. The surgical site is numbed and after a short wait the procedure can be begin. You will not feel uncomfortably anything that is being done once the anesthetic takes effect.
- Conscious IV Sedation-more and more patients prefer the benefits of conscious IV sedation administered by a trained and experienced anesthetist. With Conscious IV Sedation you are awake, able to respond, swallow, and talk but are in a very relaxed state. This is designed to put you beyond the cares of the world and dentistry, but still maintain control (want to know more?).
After the area is comfortable with either of the above methods, a small incision is made and the gum gently pushed away from the bone. A small hole called an osteotomy is made in the jaw bone, the implant is placed, and the gum tissue is carefully closed, usually held in place with suture (for a more detailed look at the procedure, click here).
Appropriate x-rays are taken to verify the position of the implant(s) and thorough instructions are given by the staff on how to care for the area, proper use of medications, expectations, nutrition, and follow-up appointments
