Crown Lengthening

Crown lengthening is a procedure that allows your dentist to:

1) Restore a tooth with decay below the gum line.

Decay occuring below the gum line.

2) Restore a tooth that has broken below the gum line.

3) Restore a tooth or teeth that are too short.

4) Remove excess (hyperplastic) gum to restore normal appearance

THE PROCEDURE

The procedure is done in the office with either local anesthetic or IV sedation.

Gum tissue is trimmed away from the tooth exposing the decay or fracture or exposing more of the tooth. After adequate healing, the dentist can then restore (fill, crown, or place a veneer).
